Option 1: Hiking

This full-day tour based on Samian tradition and local products involves an 8 km hike through mountain trails at an elevation of 600m. This is indeed the most scenic hiking route through the villages ending at “Platanos”,  the highest village in Samos. In Platanos village we enjoy a fulfilling lunch at one of the best restaurants on the island where we meet up with the rest of the group. Naturally, we would not leave out a glass of fine wine. On our way back from Platanos village, we will visit a traditional small-scale winery and indulge in their unique wine before heading back to the hotel. 
 

Option 2: Coach

This option is a far more relaxed one while very interesting because of the variety of activities. We begin by visiting a pottery workshop to learn about the famous Pythagorean Cup, a practical joke used as a teaching device by the ancient philosopher and mathematician. The next stop of our trip will be of course the well-known organic olive oil mill which includes an introduction to the production process as well as fresh olive-oil tasting. Then, a short 30-minute walk in the mountains led us to a sweet surprise. Peeking through a glass wall at the local honey shop, we will spy into a beehive as the busy bees prepare us a treat. The next stop will be a visit to Samos’ highest village with a breathtaking view and one of the best restaurants on the island where we will meet the rest of the team. On our way back, we will enjoy some wine tasting in a local family-run winery.

A one-of-a-kind day tour based on the Samian tradition and local products. Your local guide will introduce you to a variety of small-scale businesses that produce local products, such as olive oil, wine, honey, and ceramics. Through this today, you will have the chance to experience a guided tour in Samos’ most well-known organic olive oil mill that includes an introduction to how organic greek olive oil is produced as well as fresh olive oil tasting. The next stop will be a local winery, where you will taste the wine produced by a family-run business.

Lunch in one of the best restaurants in Samos with a breathtaking view of the mountains and the beach will be optional but strongly suggested. ( Please inform us on whether you would like to add this option on your tour).

While exploring the local culture through Samian food and gastronomy, one should not miss the sweetest one, honey! With the help of your local guide, and with an option of a lovely 30-minute walk through a  mountain trail, you will be able to visit a beekeeper’s shop with a live view into the beehives. Samos is also known for its artists as well, especially in ceramics. This trip also brings you in touch with a local pottery artist with a tour into their workshop where you will have the chance to see and learn about the Pythagora’s cup a famous Samian souvenir known as the cup of justice.
